I like to talk Derby

I am Beat'er Pan. I skate for OCRG in Orange County, CA. I am a Rolling Knockout. I use 265 Wicked Riedell skates, custom colored. (Purchased from OC Roller Skates). I was inspired by Whip It! (Go see if if you haven't) I have always loved roller skating. I watched my first bout in February. I joined OCRG in April 2010.
I love to be a jammer but I will play any position gladly.

I read the book in about 5 days. It’s quick, large font, and easy to read. It’s basically like reading your best friend’s journal. I really liked reading it. It was funny and the movie went along with it swimmingly so I could imagine movie scenes.

Some differences:

Movie did this better- When Bliss is in Austin buying boots from the “bong shop” haha and the roller girls come in to drop off flyers and that’s how Bliss heard about the league. It was introduced in a lot less exciting way in the book.

Movie did this better- Babe Ruthless’ arch enemy didn’t rat her out about her real age. in the book, she did. (or at least, it’s implied.. LAME)

Movie did this better- Oliver did actually cheat on Bliss and it was documented (photographs on website) in the book. But the way Bliss reacted, in the movie, even though she didn’t know for sure was priceless. such a fresh, punk rock way to react in a movie with a couple.

In the book, Bliss and Oliver get it on, quite a bit right before tour. I think the movie could have done a better job of showing more intimacy between them. But then again…. the movie handled their break up perfect for what interaction they had before tour..

One thing I did not like about the story in general, is Bliss’ overnight stardom and awesome skill. That’s not realistic at all.. right?

Overall, I think the movie was awesome and the book was fun to read. Check it out!

I can sell it to you for $8 and that includes shipping. Post in my ask
